><h3>Background<\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>Jagiellonian Library<\/strong> is one of the major Polish library and is part of the Jagiellonian University in Cracow, the oldest and one of the most prestiogious universities in Poland.<\/p>\n<p>The project concerned the renovation of the air conditioning system. The general contractor of the project is the Polish engineering company <strong>Energycool<\/strong>, which operated in cooperation with Geoclima.<\/p>\n<h3>Purposes<\/h3>\n<p>The purpose of the project was the <strong>replacement of the existing and inefficient chiller for the air conditioning system<\/strong>. The replacement works have been carried out within a strictly agreed time frame, to ensure continuous operation to the system. The system includes two chillers: the first one were replaced a couple of years ago, by Geoclima as well. This project involve the replacement of the second chiller.<\/p>\n<h3>Project<\/h3>\n<p>For the Jagiellonian Library Geoclima worked closely with Energycool in the design of new <strong>air cooled Turbomiser unit for indoor installation, with radial fans and 300 kW of cooling capacity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This project set several challenges, from both the design and the installation point of view. The new chiller had to be designed according to the existing air conditioning system, to the existing air intake and air discharge ducts, which the new chiller had to be adapted to. The new Turbocor chiller was equipped with radial fans: <strong>the unit is installed indoor and air is taken in and exhaust outside through the existing air ducts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The new Turbomiser unit has to be installed indoor, in the technical room underground, with a very difficult access, where it is not possible to enter and move the whole unit.
