University Hospital of Wales

Background

The University Hospital of Wales, with 1000 hospital beds, is one of the most important teaching hospitals in the UK and the biggest one in Wales.

Purposes

The hospital is divided into 3 blocks. The purpose was the replacement of the former 900 kW chiller located in block B.

Project

According with the client’s requirements, we developed a customized Turbomiser chiller with the same redondance as three circuits of the former chiller, with, in addition, two control circuits in case of failure. This ensures the day-long uninterrupted cooling of the entire building. The turnkey plant required a 500 tons crane and the ad hoc design of the hydraulic and electric connections in order to facilitate the installation on site.

Results

The client said that the project had been successful and professionally developed.
