Dorchester Hotel

Background

The Dorchester Hotel is one of the most famous hotels in London.

Purposes

The purpose of the project was the replacement of water cooled chillers and cooling towers that were no longer efficient. Moreover, the new system had to satisfy strict requirements concerning noise levels.

Project

The system has a cooling capacity of 3 MW and involved the installation of three Turbomiser air cooled chillers. These new chillers, based on Turbocor compressor technology, are compact and lightweight and, therefore, it was possible to place them on the roof, clearing the plant room in the basement.

Results

First of all, passing from a water cooled system with cooling towers to an air cooled system made it possible to save water and chemical treatments costs. Moreover, efficiency of Turbomiser with water flooded evaporators has led to remarkable savings of 10,000 pounds per month.
