Geoclima achieves AHRI ACCL Certification

After achieving the AHRI WCCL certification for water cooled range of chillers at the beginning of this year, Geoclima has just obtained the AHRI ACCL certification, for air cooled chillers.

Applying to the ACCL program (Air-Cooled Water-Chilling Package), Geoclima’s air cooled chiller range has earned the trusted AHRI Certified® mark, with the sole exception of evaporative systems and free cooling series – which are excluded from the certification programme – but including Circlemiser, the new ultra-high efficient series of Geoclima air cooled chillers.

AHRI certification is worldwide considered to be the major standard and the most trusted source of performance certification for heating, air conditioning, water heating and commercial refrigeration equipment. In fact, although it is not mandatory, AHRI certification is very often a specified requirement by Consulting Engineers, Building Owners and Contractors everywhere, from Australia to the USA.

Tests have been carried at a third Party’s laboratory under contract to AHRI.

The AHRI Certification of both water cooled and air cooled chillers represents a step forward in our international growth, recently strengthened with the establishment of Geoclima USA, Inc.

Geoclima USA and Hecoclima at AHR EXPO 2018!

After the exciting debut in Las Vegas at the beginning of 2017, we are very happy to exhibit again at AHR EXPO 2018, at booth 7963, from January 22 to 24, 2018, in Chicago!

Great news will be on show at AHR EXPO at Geoclima’s booth. The exhibition will be the occasion to present the new-born Geoclima USA, as the new reality in the US HVAC market, based in Texas. In addition to this, we will share our booth with our partner Hecoclima, for the first time in the USA.

Above all, at AHR EXPO 2018 we will exhibit for the first time Circlemiser, the new and most efficient series of air cooled chillers, with special cylindrical condensers and cascade flooded evaporators.

Come and see us at AHR EXPO 2018, booth 7963!

Newborn Geoclima USA has settled in Texas and is ready to start

We are excited to announce a new milestone in the Geoclima presence in the world. As announced on the occasion of our first appearance at the AHR EXPO 2017, the new Geoclima USA, Inc. has been recently established as the first Geoclima sales office in the USA, and is located in Dallas, Texas, home of an increasing number of companies with a technology focus: Geoclima is now joining the group!

Geoclima USA represents a new reality in the US HVAC market, which will be able to count on: made in Italy quality, customization of every single project, high efficiency, low environmental impact and AHRI WCCL Certification for Geoclima water cooled chillers.

Turbomiser improves efficiency in telecommunication data center

For the Vodafone testing lab in Newbury, Geoclima cooperated with partner Cooltherm for the replacement of the existing aging cooling plant.

The end user required a robust and efficient system to provide stable water temperatures to computer equipment rooms.

The project involved the design and development of 3 Turbomiser air cooled chillers with maximum 400 kW of cooling capacity each, designed to provide 280 kW at 30% efficiency. In order to ensure 100% operation of the data center during the installation works, a phased approach has been chosen, replacing one chiller at a time over a period of four weeks.

During the site inspection, it was also discovered that the plant had a combination of DX refrigerant and chilled water computer room cooling equipment (CRAC units) which were longer efficient, especially as for DX systems.

The installation of Turbomiser units ensures great benefits in terms of both efficiency and energy saving which could be further maximised converting the existing inefficient DX CRAC units. To this end, and since these units turned out to be structurally in good conditions, the project team decide to design and provide bespoke chilled water coils to replace DX coils.

The entire project, the installation of Turbomiser units and of chilled water coils, ensures maximum efficiency and remarkable energy and cost savings, in addition to environmental advantages. Turbomiser chillers alone are saving 10% of energy costs, which means 10.000 £ per month and the converted CRAC units using less than 20% of power than before. For an environmental point of view, Turbomiser ensures low energy consumption, reduced refrigerant leakage and no oil charge; in addition to this, the use of converted CRAC units made it possible to remove up to 80 kg of greenhouse F-gas.

Chillers with HFO for food industry

Geoclima’s expertise in the design of HVAC systems for food storage has been recently employed in Spain in two plants for cooling and conservation of food.

Both project use HFO-1234ze refrigerant, which is a very good solution in this kind of application as HFOs are highly efficient, which adds to its minimal warming profile with reduced indirect emissions, and has the potential to deliver significant cost savings.

UVAS DOCE – REFRIGERATION AND CONSERVATION OF GRAPE

For one of the leading European companies growing and exporting grape, Uvas Doce S.L., Geoclima has co-operated in the replacement of the cooling plant of the facility in Monforte del Cid, Alicante. In this plant the harvested grapes are subjected to “air cooling” by means of which high-pressure cold air captures and removes heat from the product, cooling it. Every hour, 10 tons of grapes are processed. For this facility Geoclima has designed with the customer Frimavi two 300 kW (85 ton) GHA units with HFO1234ze for a total power of 600 kW (170 ton) and a maximum Cooling COP of 2.4/2.6 (W/W)*. ZANEMI – REFRIGERATION AND CONSERVATION OF VEGETABLES

For the renovation of a vegetable storage facility of the Spanish company Zanemi in Villena (Alicante), Geoclima, together with the customer Frimavi, has designed and installed the new refrigeration plant. This is a process cooling installation for food preservation through a hydro-cooling process: freshly harvested vegetables enter a cooling tunnel at a temperature of about 25 °C (77 °F) and after a cooling process in which they get in contact with freezing water, vegetables come out at a temperature of 2 °C (35.6 °F). After the cooling process, vegetables are stored at a temperature of 1 °C (33.8 °F). The plant processes 10 tons of vegetables per hour. The solution provided by Geoclima consists of a 200 kW (57 ton) GHA unit with heat recovery, HFO-1234ze refrigerant and Cooling COP between 2.7 and 2.9 (W/W)*.
