Pioneering food plant in Spain

Background

We were commissioned by an important Spanish food company to design and manufacture an HVAC system for their pioneering plant capable of recovering the blood of pig slaughter and extracting a protein that will then be used in the production of animal food.

Purposes

Our system had to propose a cutting-edge solution capable of providing the highest levels of efficiency and at the same time paying particular attention to environment.

Project

Together with our Spanish partner Isofred S.L., we have developed a system consisting of a 230 kW (65 RT) condenserless unit with screw compressors and designed to use HFO-1234ze, the greenest refrigerant in the world with GWP <1 (according to a 2015 IPCC study) and classified as A2L according to ASHRAE 34. A 338 kW (96 RT) Althermo remote condenser is connected to this unit. These modular condensers are characterized by an innovative cylindrical design capable of satisfying the demands of the market, in relation to both the reduction of the refrigerant charge (-70%) and the optimization of the installation space. This ensures significant savings in terms of logistics costs and greater attention to eco-sustainability.
